Product Description

Roller Shaft | Heavy-Duty Forged Core Component for Cement Industry

1. What is a Roller Shaft?

A roller shaft is the core load-bearing and transmission component of cement vertical mills, roller presses, and other grinding equipment — essentially the "heart and skeleton" of the machine.

In the grinding stage of cement production, the roller shaft must withstand continuous pressure of hundreds of tons, severe impact, and high-load friction, making it the key part that guarantees stable operation of the entire production line. Its performance directly determines the equipment’s processing efficiency, wear life, and maintenance costs.

Our roller shafts are custom-designed for heavy-duty cement industry conditions, adopting integral forging technology with S42CrMo alloy steel, delivering a highly reliable, wear-resistant solution tailored to your equipment.

2. Core Structure & Technical Specifications

  • Material: S42CrMo high-strength alloy steel (shaft and roller sleeve integrally forged)
  • Total Length: 4574 mm
  • Surface Hardness: Roller sleeve surface HRC 58–62 for superior wear and impact resistance
  • Oil Retaining Rings: 2 pieces per roller shaft, 134 mm in width, pre-installed on the shaft at the factory for direct equipment fit
  • Customization Support: Adjustable length, diameter, hardness, and mounting interface dimensions based on customer drawings

3. Why Choose Our Roller Shafts for Cement Applications?

3.1 Integral Forging Process, Eliminating Risks of Split Joints

Some roller shafts on the market use split welding or splicing processes, which are prone to cracking and failure at welds under long-term high pressure and vibration.

We adopt one-piece die forging technology, forming the shaft body and roller sleeve in a single process without welds or weak splice points. This improves overall strength by over 40% and completely eliminates the risk of fracture.

3.2 S42CrMo Alloy Steel, The "Golden Material" for Heavy-Duty Cement Conditions

S42CrMo is a high-performance alloy steel designed specifically for high-load applications, offering:

  • Excellent yield strength and toughness, with outstanding impact and fatigue resistance far superior to ordinary carbon steel
  • Good hardenability, ensuring uniform hardness after heat treatment and preventing peeling of the wear-resistant layer
  • High-temperature resistance to withstand continuous heat generated during the grinding process

It is widely recognized as the preferred material for vertical mill roller shafts in the cement industry.

3.3 Precision Heat Treatment, Balancing High Hardness & Toughness

The roller sleeve surface undergoes professional heat treatment to achieve HRC 58–62 high hardness, while retaining the core toughness of the shaft body to avoid the common problem of "hard but brittle":

  • The high-hardness roller sleeve surface significantly reduces material abrasion, extending service life
  • The tough shaft core withstands impact loads during equipment operation, preventing shaft fracture

In the harsh environment of cement grinding, this effectively extends the replacement cycle of the roller shaft and reduces downtime maintenance costs.

3.4 Factory-Preassembled Oil Retaining Rings, For Hassle-Free On-Site Installation

Each roller shaft is delivered with oil retaining rings pre-installed according to drawing requirements. The 134 mm wide rings are precisely fitted to the shaft body, ready for direct installation at your facility without additional processing or adjustment, minimizing equipment downtime.

4. Our Quality Assurance System

We implement full-process quality control, and every roller shaft is shipped with a complete technical documentation package for your peace of mind:

  • Material Certificate with traceability to raw material batches
  • Hardness test report + on-site inspection photos to confirm compliance with hardness standards
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) report to rule out internal defects such as cracks or porosity
  • Full dimensional inspection report, ensuring 100% compliance with customer drawing requirements

5. Typical Applications

  • Vertical mill roller shafts for cement raw materials
  • Roller press roller shafts for cement clinker
  • Heavy-duty roller shafts for slag/coal vertical mills
  • Other high-load grinding equipment in the building materials industry

6. Customization Services

We support full custom production based on customer drawings, with adjustable parameters to meet your equipment and working condition requirements:

  • Shaft length and diameter
  • Roller sleeve hardness and wear-resistant layer thickness
  • Mounting interface form and tolerances
  • Accessories (oil retaining rings, bearing seats, etc.)
